Six Sigma
Six Sigma
What is Six Sigma?
Six Sigma is a statistical measure for the maximum number of defects that are allowed in a system. At the six sigma level, 99.999998 per cent of all products must be right first time i.e. have to fall within the tolerance limits. This implies that no more than 3.4 defects are produced in 1 million opportunities. This level can be achieved by reducing the variation of the process and controlling it. To reach this quality level, the processes must be improved. However, process and quality improvements are not the ultimate goal – financial improvement is the goal.
The PP Six Sigma programme is designed to -
- Introduce the concept and philosophy of Six Sigma
- Provide a structured methodology for problem solving
- Deliver training in the tools and techniques required
- Create an improvement strategy that matches your business needs

The PP Six Sigma programme is an ideal starting point for your Six Sigma activities and involves the leadership team, team members and supporting departments, with an end goal of providing a structured methodology of how to improve your business performance.
Programme overview
The programme can be tailored to incorporate Yellow, Green and Black Belt training and certification, along with Champion Training for the key stakeholders. Training is delivered through highly practical, learn by doing style workshops using real issues from within your business – which delivers real business benefits whilst increasing the Six Sigma skills of the team members.
At the core of this programme is the DMAIC methodology; Define, Measure, Analyse, Improve and Control. This methodology provides team members with the structure that they require when replicating problem solving activities throughout the business.

A typical Six Sigma programme is between 5 and 15 days and includes the tools and techniques shown above. Each programme is designed as bespoke to match the exact requirements of the customer, taking into account existing skills and competencies and delivering bottom line business benefits.
